In Character Information
Name: Apollo Justice
Series: Ace Attorney
Canon Standing: End of Dual Destinies, after seeing Solomon Starbuck off to space
Age: 23
Birthday & Astrology Sign: March 30- Aries
Arcana: The Fool

Personality:

Apollo can be a little high-strung. He is easily flustered by situations that occur in court, and sometimes makes strange errors depending on the situation. For example, when he objects to the phrase "shot square in the forehead" (the victim was actually shot in the right temple), he gets unnerved by prosecutor Klavier's counters to the point that he accidentally agrees when the judge asks if he's just objecting to the witness's phrasing instead of what the problem actually is. It goes something like this: "Yes. Er, no! There's a contradiction here!"

Also notable is how Apollo occasionally goes into spurts of saying "I'm fine!" when he's anxious, to the point where Phoenix believes his name is "Mr. Fine" when he first meets him. In Dual Destinies, we learn that he picked up this habit from his friend Clay Terran; perhaps the way the phrase reminds him of his good friend also serves to reassure him. He also begins to reassure others with the phrase "You're fine" as well; he genuinely cares for his friends and doesn't like seeing them having trouble.

Apollo's anxiety comes from his inexperience and a natural tendency towards being nervous. It's one of the things that sets him apart from a younger Phoenix; Phoenix had a bit of a cooler head even when situations made him nervous. A rule of thumb for Apollo's personality is that he is like Phoenix (lawyer days Phoenix, of course), but "more so." In his first case, Apollo is a nervous wreck, leading to the aforementioned "Mr. Fine" incident. However, as the game goes on and the situations get more serious, he manages to get himself together and avoid breaking down so much.

Apollo also has some snark to him. His internal monologue tends to keep the quips coming; for example, when it seems Apollo won't be getting paid for finding the person who hit Phoenix with a car, he mumbles, "Goodbye quid pro quo, hello pro bono." Likewise, when Guy Eldoon, a noodle stand manager, says that salty broth is a family tradition, he mutters that high blood pressure must be one too.

Another way to describe Apollo along the same lines is "put-upon." He spends a good deal of time expressing exasperation at the weird things happening around him. For example, during case two of Dual Destinies, he repeatedly questions why the villagers are so superstitious, asking things along the lines of, "Who could possibly believe this stuff?" Likewise, Athena's high-energy quirks get on Apollo's nerves on occasion, and he tends to mentally deadpan in response when her cheer overflows.

The snark can be considered something of a coping mechanism for him, especially given the zany situations he has to deal with. As mentioned before, Apollo has something of a nervous disposition, so it's only natural that he needs to do something to avoid setting himself off every time something unexpected happens. Phoenix may have a dry, sarcastic wit, but Apollo turns it up in order to keep himself sane. When he learns he won't be getting paid for finding Phoenix's hit-and-run driver, it's much easier for Apollo to quip about it instead of jumping right to worrying about what he's going to do if he doesn't get paid. It seems to be his other go-to option instead of getting nervous.

Most importantly, though, Apollo is passionate. He is described in a trailer (if I recall correctly) as having a "passionate heart burning red," and with good reason. When he gets into his "zone," he is focused and driven. He is determined to find the truth and find his clients not guilty. He reacts dramatically when he feels he might lose a trial, and it's clear in his posturing (...and his self-satisfied smirk) that he enjoys it whenever he gets the edge over a witness's testimony. At the end of the final case, Apollo vows that he will fight to change the law like Phoenix did if the need arises, a testament to just how passionate he is about the law. If he weren't committed to his work, he most likely would not fight for it like he does, much less make that vow.

In Dual Destinies, when he begins to doubt Athena's innocence, he goes forth and tries to challenge the doubt rather than letting it fester. When Phoenix begins his speech about the power of trust, he joins in, talking about the measures he took (blocking his Perceive power and going out on his investigation) to attempt to reinforce his trust in Athena. His passionate addition makes the speech that much more inspiring.

All in all, Apollo is an energetic young man with a zeal for what he does (even if he has some complaints along the way). His inexperience and youth may show, but there's no denying that he's competent at his job. He may be easily made anxious and he may have quite a quite a few remarks on the tip of his tongue, but that's just part of his charm.

Backstory:

Wikipedia link with descriptions of his cases, another wikipedia link with some more specific information on him, and Court Records's profile of him. Also, now that Dual Destinies is out, its Wikipedia article is now available.

Alternately, The Ace Attorney Wikia's page on Apollo.

They're all kind of short, though, so let me know if you need more information.

Canon Powers:

Apollo has the ability to use the Perceive "system," which enables him to super-focus and pinpoint a person's nervous tics. This skill would go under the Mind element. (He can't use the ability without his bracelet, though.)

Canon Weapons|Items:

No weapons.

Canon Allies:

No canon allies.

Canon Baggage:

Apollo gets a few changes of clothes and his bracelet. He'll also get Clay Terran's jacket.

This was it! This was Apollo's first ever trial in Hinoto-Ri. It was also his first ever trial without any form of co-council, a fact that set his anxiety aflame. But he would be fine! He'd done this before. He could do this. Of course he could.

Apollo browsed over the court record while he listened to the witness's testimony. Upon earlier request, some information on the victim's and defendant's Personas had been given to him. Something in the victim's testimony didn't quite seem right to him. His bracelet was reacting, indicating a nervous tic, but he knew that he wouldn't even have to use that. The contradiction was a bit more blatant than that.

With a characteristic dramatic finger point, Apollo yelled "Objection!" in his Chords of Steel-honed voice. "Mr. Got, did you really see a bolt of lightning strike the victim?"

The witness answered that yes, he had seen a bolt of lightning strike the victim when he was killed. However, Apollo was a step ahead of him. He folded his arms and smiled. "Then the person who fired the lightning bolt couldn't have been the defendant, as the defendant's Persona uses Light skills, not Lightning!"

Mr. Got promptly proceeded to flail and stutter, flapping his arms like a deranged bird. The prosecution, however, had other plans. "Mr. Justice, a Light skill could take the form of something like a lightning bolt if the user concentrates enough."

"But that's not the form it usually takes at all! The Hama skills use cards, and Kouha... well... should I demonstrate it for the court?" Conveniently, Kouha happened to be the one offensive skill Apollo's Persona knew. The judge nodded in approval, and Apollo took a few steps away from the defense bench to aim at a clear space in the courtroom. Focusing, he summoned his Persona, and a man in ancient robes fired a blast of light towards the middle of the courtroom.

It was just a simple blast with no real form to it. Someone in the audience applauded till they were silenced by a loud "Sssh!" from someone else. The prosecutor appeared noticeably disgruntled by Apollo's presentation, and Apollo couldn't help but smirk. He had proven his point. Maybe these new trials wouldn't be so bad after all... maybe.
